Powder Room with Chalkboard Paint

Happy day friends!  I'd like to show you one way to incorporate the ever popular chalkboard paint into your decor.  However, this post really should be entitled "How Not to Photograph a Powder Room"!  Seriously, not only is it a super small room to photograph, but it has other photography issues.  For one, the room has a metallic paint finish, another is that there is a crystal light fixture above a mirror, which translates into a whole bunch of pretty little light prisms everywhere!  Not to mention that I still have zero photography skills!  Hoping to take a class soon!

I really like the powder room to have a separate "personality" from the rest of the house. And, it's a powder room, by the way.  Not a "half bath".  Nobody is taking any type of bath in here! Geez!

I was working with a very builder's vanilla room with a basic pedestal sink.  Ummm, no thank you!  We added some chair rail up high to define the chalkboard border.  The walls were painted out in the white trim paint, then we added wide stripes using a Ralph Lauren metallic paint.  New base cabinet and granite top replaced pedestal sink.

Blues & browns with a dash of raspberry became a fun color combination against the silver & white walls.

We wrote some fun sayings in chalk.  Instant reading material while using the loo!

The ceiling was painted out in the metallic silver too.

Grandma's antique necklace and hair comb framed in a shadow box.  Simply could NOT get a good picture of this...
Little details like this really add to the personality of the room.

Hope you enjoyed the powder room tour!

Karen

Pretty color scheme, Karen! I always think powder rooms are a good place to do some "Wow" decorating. They can be little gem boxes and yours is a good example.

This is utterly gorgeous!! There's nothing builder grade about it anymore. And the chalkboard border is fantastic!!! Well done!!!
